2026: THE YEAR OF THE LORD’S FAVOR
Christian Wake Up Call 2026 is a national prayer initiative calling believers to pause, humble themselves, and return to God during a uniquely significant moment on the calendar. Drawing on biblical chronology, this year is identified as the 2,000th anniversary of the start of Jesus's earthly ministry — and the 70th Jubilee year since Israel first entered the Promised Land.
From August 12 through September 20, we're inviting Christians everywhere to walk through Teshuvah — the forty-day Hebrew season of testing, repentance, and returning to God — just as Jesus did before He began His public ministry. It's a seasonal rhythm of humility, obedience, and renewed devotion, culminating in a citywide celebration of Jubilee and the Lord's favor.
This initiative is sponsored by the International Star Bible Society, a ministry dedicated to helping believers see how the heavens themselves testify to the story of Christ.
What Is Teshuvah?
A Forty-Day Invitation
Teshuvah is a Hebrew word meaning "return." On the Jewish calendar, it marks a forty-day season of self-examination that begins on the first day of the month of Elul and ends on the Day of Atonement. Many believe this was the season during which Jesus fasted forty days in the wilderness before beginning His ministry.
In 2026, that window falls August 12 – September 20, and we're walking through it in four movements:
Humility (Aug 12–21) — Examining our hearts before God
Returning to God (Aug 22–31) — Renewing our love and devotion
Obedience (Sept 1–10) — Aligning our actions with His Word
Days of Awe (Sept 11–19) — Preparing for the culmination of the season
The season closes on September 20, the Day of Atonement — and, according to this year's dating, the 70th Year of Jubilee.
The 70th Jubilee: Why 2026?
Scripture ties the Jubilee to cycles of forty-nine years, beginning when Israel entered the Promised Land. Tracing that pattern forward — through the building of Solomon's Temple, the exile, the return from Babylon, the early Church, and the founding of America — this initiative identifies 2026 as the 70th Jubilee year, coinciding with the 2,000th anniversary of Jesus announcing "the year of the Lord's favor" in Luke 4.
Whether or not every date lines up precisely for every reader, the invitation stands: this is a moment to slow down, examine our lives, and ask God to heal what's broken — in us, in our churches, and in our nation.

1. Pray Through Teshuvah
Walk the forty-day prayer guide individually, with your family, or with your small group.

Gather other believers in your city on August 12 to launch the season together, and again on September 20 to celebrate the Year of the Lord's Favor.
